A coach from North Devon has been awarded the McDonalds Grassroots nationwide award for coach of the year for youth soccer. In this year’s competitors, Wendy Benson from Braunton FC’s inclusion group was one of greater than 4,500 nominees. She and fellow coaches from the Braunton group attended the Community Shield match the place Leicester City beat Manchester City at Wembley on Saturday, August 7, the place her award was introduced by ex-England and Arsenal ladies’s footballer Rachel Yankey throughout a ceremony to mark all 11 nationwide winners.
